Our program immerses students in independent research while expanding their engagement with specialized areas of Geography. Students can explore research topics across these key sub-disciplines: Biogeography, Climate Studies, Economic Geography, Environmental Sustainability, Gender and Geography, GIS Technology, Landform Processes, Historical Geography, Water Systems and Ice Studies, Indigenous Perspectives, Political Geography, Sociocultural Geography, and Urban Studies.
The PhD program offers adaptable, research-focused learning tailored to each student's goals. Participants join with diverse academic backgrounds and receive guidance from leading experts in physical geography, human geography, and geospatial technologies. Graduates develop specialized knowledge that prepares them for professional paths in higher education, public service, industry, or the non-profit sector.
