Our program immerses students in independent research while expanding their engagement with a chosen Geography specialization. Research opportunities span these key sub-disciplines: Biogeography, Climate Studies, Economic Geography, Environmental Sustainability, Gender Geography, GIS Technology, Landform Processes, Historical Geography, Water Systems and Glaciers, Indigenous Land Studies, Political Geography, Sociocultural Geography, and Urban Studies.
The PhD curriculum offers adaptable, research-focused learning tailored to each student. Participants from diverse academic backgrounds receive guidance from leading experts in physical geography, human geography, and geospatial technologies. Graduates develop specialized knowledge that prepares them for academic positions, government roles, corporate careers, or NGO work within their chosen research field.
