This multidisciplinary program caters to students passionate about research that involves communities, emphasizing social equity and transformation. Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) and similar methodologies serve as the program's core framework. These methods actively include community members as partners in the research process, valuing the distinct contributions of all participants. Unlike traditional research conducted on communities, this approach works alongside them and has gained increasing recognition across various disciplines such as human geography, anthropology, Indigenous studies, public health, urban development, education, social services, healthcare, sociology, and more.
Throughout their studies, participants will explore both theoretical foundations and hands-on applications of community collaboration. By engaging with this broad academic area, students can leverage expertise, tools, and partnerships across four faculties and 10 academic departments.
Upon completion, graduates will qualify for roles in educational and research institutions, private companies, government agencies, public corporations, as well as nonprofit, charitable, and non-governmental organizations.
