Scientists specializing in astronomy and physics explore the physical realm and the forces that govern it, examining everything from subatomic particles such as neutrinos and Higgs bosons to the grandest cosmic formations, including the universe in its entirety. This discipline intersects significantly with mathematics, chemistry, biology, and engineering, offering multiple perspectives for study.

Often categorized as a branch of physics, astronomy employs physical and mathematical principles to probe the universe's essential characteristics, its development, galactic properties, and the life cycles of celestial bodies like stars and black holes.

These scientific principles are practically applied by astronomers to address challenges in navigation, space exploration, and satellite technology, while also advancing the tools and methods for gathering astronomical observations.

At the undergraduate level, astronomy can be pursued as a standalone major or as a joint honors program with physics, which is particularly recommended for those aiming for advanced astronomical research and academic careers.
