For more than five decades, the University of Alberta has provided Canada's sole accredited Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering program. Petroleum engineers play a crucial role in discovering and developing oil and gas reserves.

Our alumni work in various aspects of subsurface energy resource management, encompassing hydrocarbon production, carbon sequestration, hydrogen storage, underground waste fluid injection, and geothermal power generation. They utilize principles from geology, physics, chemistry, and engineering to develop
solutions for subsurface challenges involving fluid dynamics, thermal energy transfer, material movement, rock mechanics, and chemical interactions. We take pride in delivering a comprehensive petroleum engineering education that equips students with essential skills for thriving in the energy industry.
