The MDMBA program equips physician leaders with skills to navigate careers that integrate medical practice with healthcare system transformation. Participants will be prepared for diverse roles across the healthcare spectrum, from private practices to major academic medical centers. This dual-degree initiative merges medical education with business training, awarding both an MD and MBA upon finishing the five-year curriculum.
The integrated program starts with two years of medical school, followed by a business-focused third year at the Alberta School of Business. During this phase, students complete the MBA core requirements plus three electives, potentially including public health courses. The intensive business year runs from August orientation through spring electives (May-June). The final two years return to medical training, where students fulfill their clinical rotations and complete their physician education.
