Master of Arts / Master of Library and Information Studies (Digital Humanities)
The Digital Humanities Program collaborates with the School of Library and Information Studies to provide a cross-faculty dual degree program (MA in Digital Humanities/MLIS) that students can finish in three years. Participants in this joint program must complete 12 units of core Digital Humanities courses (DH 500, DH 510, DH 520, and DH 530) plus 6 units of Digital Humanities electives. Additionally, they need to complete 18 units of required Library and Information Studies courses (LIS 501, LIS 502, LIS 503, LIS 504, LIS 505, and LIS 597) along with 9 units of LIS electives. First-year students are strongly advised to complete the mandatory Digital Humanities courses. A thesis is also required, with the thesis committee typically including faculty from both disciplines.

Prospective students applying for the dual degree program only need to submit a single online application by choosing "MAMLIS" as their program option. Applications are processed through the Digital Humanities portal and then shared with the School of Library and Information Studies if the candidate is initially accepted into the Digital Humanities program. Applicants must meet the admission criteria for both programs. Admissions decisions for the combined degrees are made through consultation between administrators of both programs.
