The interdisciplinary Master of Arts in Communications and Technology (MACT) provides a comprehensive exploration of communication through theoretical, historical, and applied perspectives. This program caters to professionals aiming to exercise thoughtful, knowledgeable leadership in overseeing information and communication technologies within their organizations and industries. Relevant sectors encompass education and training, IT, marketing, media production, content development, public relations, and publishing. The curriculum addresses interpersonal and organizational communication; the evolution, principles, and application of communication technologies; along with analytical techniques for assessing these technologies, especially in professional settings. Students can complete the MACT program through either coursework or thesis options.

Qualification Requirements

The Faculty's minimum admission requirements are an undergraduate degree with an admission GPA of at least 3.0 on the 4-point scale from the University of Alberta, or an equivalent qualification and standing from a recognized institution. The admission GPA will be calculated on the last 60 units of graded coursework completed, or on the equivalent of the last two years of full-time graded coursework. A current CV,
three letters of reference,
a letter of interest which states the applicant's academic or professional area of specialization, specifies how completion of the program would support the applicant's professional practice, and identifies a provisional topic for the final applied research project.
TOEFL - minimum total score of 100 with a score of at least 21 on each of the individual skill areas (Internet-based), or equivalent,
An equivalent score on an English Language Proficiency test approved by the Faculty of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies.
IELTS - 6.5, with at least 5.5 on each test band
