The PhD program aims to cultivate future leaders in pharmacological and biomedical research. Doctoral candidates will engage in groundbreaking scientific investigations while honing their analytical reasoning, communication abilities, and problem-solving capabilities. Graduates of our program will possess the expertise to conduct autonomous scientific research. The Pharmacology Department provides advanced degree pathways, including Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy programs in pharmacology.

Qualification Requirements

The Department's minimum admission requirements are an MSc degree in pharmacology or a companion discipline with an admission GPA of at least 3.3 on the 4-point scale from the University of Alberta, or an equivalent qualification and standing from a recognized institution. The admission GPA will be calculated on the last ?60 of graded coursework completed, or on the equivalent of the last two years of full-time graded coursework.

English Language Requirement:

  • TOEFL with a minimum total score of 95 (Internet-based) with at least 23 on each of the speaking and writing skill areas;
  • IELTS with a minimum overall band score of 7.0, with at least 6 on each band.
