For more than five decades, the University of Alberta has provided Canada's sole accredited Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering program. Petroleum engineers play a crucial role in discovering and developing oil and gas reserves.

Our alumni contribute to the discovery and utilization of underground energy sources, encompassing petroleum and natural gas production, carbon and hydrogen sequestration, subsurface fluid injection, and geothermal power generation. They utilize principles from geology, physics, chemistry, and engineering to develop
techniques for managing fluid movement, thermal energy transfer, material exchange, rock mechanics, and chemical reactions in underground reservoirs. We take pride in delivering a curriculum that equips students with comprehensive petroleum engineering knowledge and readies them for rewarding careers in the energy industry.
