The Department of Cell Biology within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry provides graduate studies culminating in MSc and PhD degrees. Students receive top-tier education across diverse fields such as organelle development and disorders, neuroscience, viral studies, cancer research, cellular signaling, protein analysis, evolutionary biology, RNA studies, molecular chaperones, and infectious disease mechanisms. The program combines hands-on research with academic coursework and seminars, equipping students to formulate research questions, evaluate scientific data, and present findings effectively.
Our department boasts cutting-edge laboratory facilities for contemporary cellular research. Primary financial support comes from leading Canadian funding bodies including the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council, and Canada Foundation for Innovation.
