Paleontology explores Earth's ancient life through fossil evidence, uncovering evolutionary patterns and extinction events. Our distinguished Paleontology program features top-tier researchers, unparalleled fossil collections, and exclusive access to excavation sites and hands-on fieldwork experiences. The Paleontology Specialization focuses on fossil analysis and prehistoric organisms, offering an interdisciplinary curriculum that builds expertise in paleontology, earth sciences, and biology while preparing students for advanced academic pursuits.

The Bachelor of Science with Honors provides intensive specialization in scientific disciplines, ideal for research-oriented students. This rigorous program includes a mandatory thesis project and demands higher academic performance than a standard BSc Major. Students may complement their studies with a minor from Arts, Native Studies, Business, or Agricultural, Life & Environmental Sciences, though this reduces elective options. Unlike other programs, the Honors track does not permit double majors.

The University of Alberta's Faculty of Science offers 65 cutting-edge programs across 30 disciplines, making it one of Canada's most comprehensive science institutions. With advanced teaching facilities, undergraduate research opportunities, and world-class faculty researchers, we bring real-world scientific challenges into focus through exceptional education.
