This cross-disciplinary program, provided collaboratively by the Faculty of Science and the Neuroscience and Mental Health Institute, explores every facet of brain function. Topics include neural development, neurons and synaptic connections, sensory processing, cognition and memory, motor control, animal behavior, psychological studies, and neurological disorders. The Honors Bachelor of Science is tailored for students seeking specialized knowledge in a focused discipline and who are passionate about scientific inquiry. Each curriculum incorporates a mandatory research thesis component, requiring students to uphold more rigorous academic performance than in a standard BSc Major program. While students may complement their studies with a minor from Arts, Native Studies, Business, or Agricultural, Life & Environmental Sciences, this choice limits elective course options. The Honors program does not permit double majors.

The University of Alberta's Faculty of Science offers exceptional programs that examine, clarify, and reveal the genuine scientific principles underlying everyday phenomena. With 65 degree options across 30 disciplines, we rank among Canada's most extensive science faculties, featuring cutting-edge educational resources, undergraduate research opportunities, and faculty members who are pioneering experts in their respective fields.
