Our computing programs emphasize the interdisciplinary aspects of computer science while providing the freedom to pair computing studies with other academic disciplines. The Bachelor of Science with Major offers an adaptable curriculum covering a vast array of subjects. This degree features an optional minor or dual major, enabling students to tailor their education around dual interests or concentrate on a single specialization. Learners can maintain a broad academic scope or pursue in-depth study within their preferred field. Students may select from over 60 minor options, including numerous offerings from the Faculties of Arts, Indigenous Studies, Business, and Agricultural, Life & Environmental Sciences.

Qualification Requirements

English is the primary language of instruction in all Faculties except Facult Saint-Jean. All undergraduate applicants to any program or course except Facult Saint-Jean need an adequate level of English language proficiency before admission, regardless of their citizenship status or country of origin. The University of Alberta reserves the right to use discretion in determining adequate levels of language proficiency to ensure success in academic programs.
Graduation from a recognized degree program offered by an accredited university at which English is the primary language of instruction or in a country where English is the primary language.
A score of at least 90 on the TOEFL iBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language - Internet-based) with no less than 21 on each band.
A score of at least 6.5 on the IELTS Academic (International English Language Testing System) with no band less than 6.0.
A score of at least 70 on the Canadian Academic English Language assessment: CAEL (paper) or CAEL CE (computer) with no band less than 60.
