The Bioprocessing and Biomanufacturing Option is structured around the foundational Chemical Engineering curriculum. Students completing this specialization will gain distinctive skills for designing and evaluating biochemical processes and biological systems involved in producing biofuels, pharmaceuticals, biomaterials, and similar bioproducts. This program offers a Co-op (co-operative education) track, allowing participants to undertake paid, supervised work placements during their studies. The Co-op experience provides valuable opportunities to test your skills, acquire industry-relevant experience, and establish professional networks before graduation. Typically, co-op programs consist of five four-month work terms alongside the standard eight academic terms (four years) of full-time coursework, extending the total program duration to five years.
This program does not allow admission directly from high school. See requirements below for more details.
Foundational/Qualifying Year: All students in this first year of study follow a common curriculum. At the end of the year, students choose among the various specialized Engineering programs offered and between the traditional and cooperative education streams. We have over 35 streams to choose from. See Bachelor of Science in Engineering - Qualifying Year for admissions requirements from high school.
