Biochemistry delves into the chemical processes within living organisms and the molecular mechanisms driving cellular changes, forming the foundation for advancements in medicine, agriculture, veterinary science, and forensic applications. The Honors Biochemistry program offers a structured curriculum featuring a guided research project in the final year. Unique opportunities such as international research courses and the Biomedical Research Certificate allow students to enhance their research capabilities and explore new educational pathways.

The Bachelor of Science with Honors provides specialized training in a chosen discipline for students passionate about scientific inquiry. Each program incorporates a research thesis component and requires higher academic performance compared to standard BSc Major degrees. While students may pursue a minor from Arts, Native Studies, Business, or Agricultural, Life & Environmental Sciences, this choice limits elective options. Note that double majors are not permitted within the Honors program.

At the University of Alberta, the Faculty of Science offers 65 degree programs across 30 disciplines, making it one of Canada's most comprehensive science faculties. With cutting-edge facilities, undergraduate research opportunities, and renowned faculty members, we provide exceptional programs that examine the scientific principles shaping our world.
