Students can pursue Physical Education as either a primary or secondary specialization within the Bachelor of Secondary Education degree. This program offers concentrations in Physical Education and Sports, Health Education, Recreation and Leisure Studies, and Physical Activity. Teaching is more than a profession—it's a vocation, and we're committed to shaping educators who will leave a lasting impact on their students. Through our Secondary Education program in the Faculty of Education, you'll gain the skills to inspire grades 7-12 learners across various subjects. The program lets you tailor your studies by selecting two specialization areas—a primary focus and a secondary one—aligning with your interests and goals.
The curriculum features two practical teaching components: a five-week Introductory Professional Term (IPT) followed by a nine-week Advanced Professional Term (APT). Typically, you'll instruct in your primary specialization during both terms. While designed as a four-year program, it's also available as an after-degree option. Graduates qualify for Alberta teacher certification upon successful completion.
