Students can pursue Chemistry as either a primary or secondary specialization within the Bachelor of Secondary Education program. The curriculum covers diverse scientific disciplines including Astronomy, Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, chemical interactions, Mathematics, Physics, states of matter, gas behavior, acid-base chemistry, and various compound studies (thermochemical, electrochemical, and organic). Teaching represents a profound vocation, and our mission is to equip you to become an impactful classroom educator who leaves a lasting impression. Through our Faculty of Education's Secondary Education track, you'll gain the skills to inspire grades 7-12 students across multiple disciplines. The program features dual specialization options—a primary and secondary focus—enabling you to tailor your academic journey according to your interests.

This Secondary Education curriculum incorporates two practical teaching components: a five-week Introductory Professional Term (IPT) followed by an intensive nine-week Advanced Professional Term (APT). Students typically instruct in their primary specialization area during both terms. While designed as a four-year undergraduate program, it also accommodates post-degree candidates. Graduates qualify for Alberta teaching certification upon successful program completion.
