The Bachelor of Secondary Education offers multiple Career and Technology Studies (CTS) options as majors or minors. Please note that combining a CTS major with a minor in the same field isn't permitted. Choose from these CTS specializations: Business, Administration, Finance; Computing Science; Health Sciences; Recreation; Human Sciences; Media Studies; Design; Communication Arts; Natural Resources; or Trades, Manufacturing and Transportation. Teaching is more than a profession—it's a vocation. Our Faculty of Education's Secondary Education program equips you to inspire grades 7-12 students across various subjects while nurturing your enthusiasm for education. You'll select two focus areas (a major and minor) to tailor your academic journey to your interests.
The program features two practical teaching components: a five-week Introductory Professional Term (IPT) and a nine-week Advanced Professional Term (APT). Generally, you'll instruct in your major subject during both teaching terms.
Designed as a four-year undergraduate program, this degree also accommodates those pursuing it as a post-degree qualification. Graduates qualify for Alberta teacher certification upon successful completion.
