The MA Linguistics program equips students to excel and innovate in linguistics through comprehensive training in both theoretical and practical applications.

Trinity Western University focuses on developing professionals, scholars, and mission leaders. This intensive 36-semester-hour graduate program emphasizes hands-on linguistic fieldwork, enabling students to combine academic rigor with global language community service—documenting linguistic systems, creating writing systems for unwritten languages, and more. Alumni are equipped to publish scholarly articles, continue professional growth, pursue PhD studies, and align their faith with their vocation. Unlike theory-heavy linguistics programs, this curriculum takes a functional-typological approach, prioritizing real-world language analysis for initiatives like language preservation, writing system creation, literacy programs, and translation. Backed by the Canada Institute of Linguistics, the program offers North America's premier fieldwork-focused training, with faculty renowned for their practical expertise.
