The new MSc in Bioenvironmental Monitoring and Assessment (BEMA) equips graduates for careers in bioenvironmental monitoring, wildlife population studies, conservation biology, and ecosystem management. Contemporary environmental challenges can be solved through rigorous analysis of ecological data or pioneering research methodologies.
This graduate program develops students' ability to strategically address environmental questions using cutting-edge techniques in landscape genetics, population dynamics, environmental genomics, ecological stoichiometry, and nutrient cycle evaluation. Unlike conventional MSc programs, this thesis-focused curriculum emphasizes understanding environmental change processes. It incorporates hands-on experience through industry placements and essential professional development workshops tailored to career readiness. Trent University has three semester terms per academic year:
Fall Term - September 1 to December 31
Winter Term - January 1 to April 30
Spring Term - May 1 to August 31
The MSc BEMA program mainly takes in students for September, but intake can occur in January and May if supervisors are interested. Applications should be received by February 1st to be considered for admission the following September.
