The Canadian Studies Department provides a Diploma program designed for students seeking an intensive one-year academic experience (from September through April) centered on Canada's political economy, social structures, environmental issues, and cultural aspects. Prospective Diploma students must submit a written application to the department chair, specifying their preferred courses. Due to limited availability, admission is competitive and not guaranteed. The department chair, in collaboration with the Admissions Committee, will evaluate and select qualified candidates.
Diploma Details
Graduates receive their Diploma during spring convocation along with an official Trent University transcript documenting all completed courses and corresponding grades. After earning the Diploma, students may pursue admission to the Canadian Studies Bachelor of Arts program. All credits obtained through the Diploma program can be applied toward the BA degree requirements.
