Trent University's unique Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems program (B.A. or B.Sc.) offers a Small-scale Farming Specialization that equips students with both theoretical knowledge and hands-on training in food production and strengthening local food networks. An immersive new field course focuses on sustainable vegetable and crop management at the Trent Model Farm, teaching students essential techniques from soil preparation and nutrient management to planting, pest control, irrigation methods, and harvest/post-harvest processes.
