Explore sustainable and regenerative farming in depth through practical learning opportunities across farming, marketing, distribution, and culinary preparation. Trent University's unique Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems program (B.A. or B.Sc.) offers a Small-scale Farming Specialization that equips students with both theoretical knowledge and hands-on training in food production and strengthening local food networks. An immersive new field course focuses on sustainable vegetable and crop management at the Trent Model Farm, teaching students essential techniques from soil preparation and nutrient management to planting, pest control, irrigation methods, and harvest/post-harvest processes. Food is a universal human need, yet sustainably feeding our global population of seven billion presents one of today's most pressing challenges. Through sustainable agriculture studies, you'll develop responsible, equitable, and efficient food systems. This program investigates the farm-to-table journey and its effects on society, economics, and the environment. Discover the obstacles and advantages of sustainable food production and distribution while preparing for a meaningful career where you can drive positive change in your community.
