Trent University's Conservation Biology program stands as Canada's sole initiative of its kind, where students investigate the loss of biodiversity and explore remedies for this worldwide challenge. Through coursework, you'll build core knowledge in areas such as ecological systems, flora and fauna classification, evolutionary processes, animal behavior patterns, and genetic population dynamics. Beyond lectures, you'll engage in hands-on fieldwork with professional conservation experts across Trent's exceptional outdoor research facilities, featuring eleven distinct natural zones on campus. The program provides two specialized academic tracks for real-world experience: a senior-year internship option or a five-year cooperative education path, each designed to refine professional abilities in scientific practice, investigative methods, effective communication, and analytical reasoning.
