The Master of Arts in Child and Youth Care (CYC) program delves deeply into three core areas:
Clinical Practice in Child and Youth Care
Leadership and Policy in Child and Youth Services
Research Methodologies in Child and Youth Care
This graduate program examines both theoretical frameworks and practical applications for supporting vulnerable youth across diverse environments, addressing key topics such as trauma-responsive approaches, resilience building, life-space interventions, critical social perspectives, and organizational leadership within youth-serving institutions.
Employing cutting-edge teaching methods that emphasize reflective practice, hands-on field experiences, and the incorporation of social innovation and self-awareness in professional relationships, the MA curriculum fosters leadership development while centering children's rights and the lived realities of young people accessing various support services.
Structured as a 12-month intensive program, it requires in-person attendance during fall semester, with winter and spring/summer terms offering flexible in-class or online options. The curriculum consists of five core courses plus a choice between two pathways: Research and Policy track or Therapeutic Practicum. All mandatory classes are scheduled evenings from 6-9 PM, Monday through Thursday.
Working professionals in the child and youth care field may apply for limited part-time enrollment, which requires an additional interview alongside standard admission criteria.
