The Supply Chain Management Major focuses on achieving excellence in every aspect. Students gain expertise in delivering the correct product to consumers, ensuring it's available at the proper location, moment, and price point. A supply chain consists of three key components. Procurement involves acquiring necessary materials, supplies, and services for an organization. Operations focuses on transforming these inputs into finished goods and services. Transportation and logistics handle the distribution of products to end-users. The objective across these functions is to optimize both customer satisfaction and company profits. These practices have driven significant business advancements including single and global sourcing strategies, manufacturing-oriented design, agile and lean production methods, predictive analytics, additive manufacturing, and sustainable supply chains.
Businesses are progressively delegating supply chain operations to specialized partners to leverage their knowledge and concentrate on primary business strengths. This shift has decreased company expenditures on stock and facilities while creating more adaptable supply networks, though it has also introduced greater complexity and interdependence, particularly in our interconnected global marketplace. Future supply chain professionals who possess robust analytical and technical abilities, along with diverse cultural understanding and entrepreneurial exposure, will be highly sought after in this field.
