Sociology examines the structures and dynamics of human societies. This program equips students with comprehensive understanding of major social influences on behavior while honing their abilities to create and assess research projects. Many graduates pursue specialized training in fields like education or social work at TRU, while others leverage their sociology background for careers in administration, public sector roles, or community service organizations. As a discipline, sociology represents one of the most diverse, engaging, and applicable areas within the liberal arts and research fields. Sociologists focus on analyzing social collectives and interactions, employing both logical reasoning and evidence-based investigation to determine existing conditions and potential outcomes. Our department maintains that sociologists should actively participate in evaluating societal systems through informed public discourse. We aim to foster this dialogue while providing students with the necessary analytical tools to contribute meaningfully.
