Expand your horizons through the study of French and Francophone, Spanish and Latin American, and Italian languages and cultures. The Romance Languages program cultivates global awareness by examining literature and media while honing skills in speaking, grammar, and writing. Interactive small classes prioritize lively discussions and debates.
Students can enrich their education through semester or year-long study abroad opportunities in destinations such as France, Spain, Ecuador, or Peru.
All courses are led by faculty members—never teaching assistants—ensuring instruction from subject matter experts.
Academic options include majoring in Romance Languages or pursuing a minor, major, double major, or honors degree in French or Spanish and Latin American Studies
International Applicants - In addition to a high school transcript, international applicants whose primary language is not English must also arrange to have an official copy of their English proficiency scores sent directly to the Admissions Office. 
Adult Learners - Submit a 1–2-page typed letter describing your educational background, work experience, and academic plans. Mature candidates must also submit academic transcripts - e.g. high school, GED if applicable.
Students who meet the following minimum English Language Proficiency scores and the St. Thomas academic admission requirements are eligible for the ESL program -

Students with the scores below are eligible to take five regular academic courses but may take integrated and assisted courses if they wish
