St. Thomas University's Bachelor of Arts includes a specialized English as a Second Language (ESL) program designed for students who need to enhance their English skills before undertaking standard university coursework. This program allows participants to earn academic credits while systematically developing their language abilities through personalized study plans.
Admission requires TOEFL scores ranging from 61 to 89, IELTS scores between 5.0 and 6.5, or equivalent results on recognized language assessments. Students combine ESL instruction with modified courses across various subjects, progressively building the English competence needed for full university participation. Every course in the ESL program counts toward degree requirements.
International Applicants - In addition to a high school transcript, international applicants whose primary language is not English must also arrange to have an official copy of their English proficiency scores sent directly to the Admissions Office.
Adult Learners - Submit a 1–2-page typed letter describing your educational background, work experience, and academic plans. Mature candidates must also submit academic transcripts - e.g. high school, GED if applicable.
