This program prepares graduates for diverse career paths including law enforcement, border security, corrections, youth outreach, community support services, and educational roles. Students complete two intensive 400-hour Professional Placements to gain hands-on experience.
The curriculum equips graduates to handle conflict resolution, crisis management, and emergency response across institutional and community justice environments. Students develop specialized skills to assist vulnerable populations, including individuals facing addiction and mental health challenges.
Through the program, students cultivate essential professional competencies including self-development, cultural awareness, effective communication (both verbal and nonverbal), active listening, adaptability, intuitive response, relationship-building, analytical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and career strategy. The training emphasizes evidence-based approaches for working with individuals involved in or at risk of legal conflicts, while promoting holistic wellness principles.
Building upon the respected Correctional Worker Program founded in the 1970s, the Community and Justice Services Program maintains a longstanding tradition of excellence in preparing professionals for correctional and community justice roles.
