The General Arts & Science (Certificate) program provides a foundational year for students entering the workforce or pursuing further education. Those in the General Studies track work with their program coordinator to tailor their curriculum based on individual goals and preferences. Required courses cover communication, technology, applied/social sciences, personal growth, and general studies, alongside diverse electives like Film Studies, Addiction Studies, and Physical Fitness. The program also strengthens key skills in writing, STEM subjects, and quantitative reasoning.
General Arts & Science offers adaptable programming. Course schedules may be adjusted according to student objectives and class offerings.
This one-year certificate program equips graduates with both immediate job readiness and academic pathways. Participants build essential career competencies while selecting specialized electives in collaboration with their academic advisor (500 instructional hours). Successful students may progress to the second year of the General Arts & Science Diploma program.
Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with the majority of Grade 11 and 12 courses at the C, U or M level including the following prerequisites:
Grade 12 English at the C or U level
Grade 11 Math at the C, U or M level
English language requirements:
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic Overall 6.0 with no band less than 6.0; TOEFL Internet-based Test (iBT) or Home Edition 78; TOEFL Computer-based Test 213; Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL. In-person or Online) Overall 60; EIKEN (Test in Practical English Proficiency) Pre-1; The Michigan English Test Overall 58 with no individual score below 56; Pearson Test of English -Academic (Online & In-person) 60; Cambridge English Proficiency 173; Duolingo Overall 110 with no sub score less than 85.
