Our two-year Bachelor of Education program combines teaching, research, and practical experience in a dynamic academic setting. You'll be taught by faculty members who are distinguished practitioners in their field. During their second year, B.Ed. candidates can gain international teaching experience through overseas practicums. Past students have completed teaching placements in countries like Norway, Australia, Kenya, Iceland, and Scotland.
The BEd program spans two years after obtaining an undergraduate degree and offers two specialization tracks:
Elementary (kindergarten to grade 6) – Future elementary educators develop broad subject expertise to meet the diverse curriculum requirements of Nova Scotia's primary schools.
Secondary (grades 7 to 12) – Secondary education majors qualify to teach two specialized subjects commonly offered in Nova Scotia's high schools (including English, French, Social Studies, Mathematics, Science, Physical Education/Health Education, Gaelic, Spanish, Business, Family Studies, Art, Music, and Drama).
Both streams offer additional specialization options in Physical Education and French language instruction.
