StFX offers major, advanced major, and honors programs in political science, along with joint major and honors options with supplementary choices. The curriculum divides into four key areas:
Political Theory‚ÄØcovers foundational thinkers and concepts, from classical philosophy to modern discussions about liberty, equity, rights, identity, society, and fairness.
Canadian Government and Politics‚ÄØfocuses on Canada's political landscape, its governing structures, and how global influences shape domestic policy.
Comparative Politics‚ÄØinvestigates governmental systems across nations, highlighting contrasts and parallels between political frameworks worldwide.
International Relations‚ÄØanalyzes global political systems, including state interactions and the role of power in international affairs, while considering economic, military, and cultural factors affecting global governance.

Honors candidates must complete PSCI 100 (101 & 102), 399 and 397, plus 12 credits from: 201, 202, 211, 212, 221, 222, 251, 252, along with two seminars, a thesis (490), and 24 additional PSCI credits. Typically, students complete 24 credits at 300+ level, including PSCI 399, 490 and two seminars.
