StFX provides specialized advanced major and honors tracks for in-depth philosophical exploration, with graduates gaining admission to top-tier global postgraduate programs. The department also welcomes students from other fields to enhance their studies with philosophical perspectives. The curriculum systematically covers all major philosophical domains, with particular emphasis on historical developments.
Typically requires 12 credits in Philosophy History.
(i) Generally includes at least 6 credits from ancient/medieval periods and 6 from modern/contemporary eras.
(b) Usually mandates 18 upper-level (300-400) credits.
(c) Includes 6 credits of Department-approved 400-level Senior Seminar coursework.
(d) Completion of a Senior Research Paper/Report.

For high school students the minimum admission requirements include an overall average of 70 percent in Grade 12 with no grade below 65 percent in each of the required subjects Admissions to limited enrolment programs is competitive meeting the minimum average does not guarantee admission.
Please note students who are currently in grade 12 applying for early admissionmust have the program requirements in grade 11 and be registered in the program prerequisites in grade 12 to be eligible for an early offer Otherwise offers will be made after receipt of final first term grade 12 transcript.
