Students also explore distribution system planning and CAD applications. The curriculum emphasizes safety while teaching boom truck operation, powerline rigging, and fall prevention methods. Hands-on learning occurs in outdoor pole field labs, blending practical experience with theoretical foundations for apprenticeship readiness. Participants master pole climbing, Radial Boom Derrick (RBD) operation, and double bucket truck handling. The program covers crucial techniques like aerial rescues, bucket evacuations, and underground system installations, including transformer work. Throughout the course, students construct overhead lines in real-world projects, enhancing their troubleshooting, teamwork, and analytical abilities. Program graduates secure positions with utility providers, municipal power agencies, electrical contractors, equipment manufacturers, and major engineering firms.
