To graduate, students must complete 30-32 approved upper division or graduate-level units (typically eight 4-unit courses numbered 300 or higher). Course selection should be made with guidance from an undergraduate CMNS advisor. A minimum of five upper division courses (20 units) must focus on communication studies, while the remaining 10-12 units may include relevant subjects like sociology, gerontology, history, English, sustainable community development, women's studies, and similar fields.

Qualification Requirements

A bachelor’s degree from SFU or its equivalent from a recognized institution, a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. IELTS - Overall band score of 7.0 of the academic (NOT general) test with a minimum of 6.5 in each section. TOEFL IBT - 93, with a minimum score of 20 in each category. For the paper-based TOEFL test, the University normally requires a score of 580, with TWE 5. Pearson Academic (PTE) - Overall 65 minimum 60 in all of their sections.
