This program offers instruction from faculty and industry experts with extensive backgrounds in family therapy, policy creation, social services, advocacy, and related disciplines. You'll build essential competencies through hands-on lab work while designing frameworks for launching and managing service organizations.

Our Social Service Worker program partners with numerous institutions – from community groups and residential facilities to child welfare agencies and youth programs – that host our students for second-year practical training. You'll accumulate over 600 hours of fieldwork experience, applying classroom knowledge in real-world social service environments.

Potential workplaces include: Emergency support facilities, Community hubs, Career service offices, Food assistance programs, Residential care and mental health institutions, Temporary housing services, Immigrant support centers, Domestic violence shelters
Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, including these required courses:
One English, Grade 12 (ENG4C or ENG4U) or
Mature student status.

iTEP Academic - overall score 3.7
PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English) online or in person - overall score 58 with no individual section below 49
Duolingo English Language Test - overall score of 105 with no individual subscore lower than 85
Cambridge English Test Exams (B2 First/C1 Advanced/C2 Proficiency score) - overall Cambridge English Scale score 169 with no individual score below 162
CAEL (Canadian Academic English Language) online or in person - overall score 60 with no individual section below 50
Sheridan EPA test - Listening Band - 4.0 Reading Combined Band - 4.0 Writing - CLB 7
Sheridan's ESL program EAP level - A minimum score of 70% in listening and speaking and 70% in reading and writing. General Education courses and Navigating Digital Environments (INFO) minimum required grade of 50%.
