As an early childhood educator, you'll guide children through play-based learning. Your duties will involve crafting age-appropriate lesson plans and establishing engaging, high-quality educational spaces. You'll discover how to create comprehensive programs encompassing early reading skills, artistic expression, mathematics, and unstructured play activities for both indoor and outdoor settings. You'll collaborate with fellow educators to foster connections with children, families, community members, and other specialists.
Saskatchewan Polytechnic's two-year Early Childhood Education (ECE) diploma is available on-site in Prince Albert, Regina, and Saskatoon, or through regional colleges and online learning, no matter where you reside.
Career Opportunities
Saskatchewan has significant need for Level III ECE professionals. With this diploma, you can work in group childcare environments serving children from infancy to 12 years old. Potential career paths include supporting children with special needs, serving as an educator or administrator in childcare centers, working in preschools or elementary schools, participating in Kids First or Aboriginal Head Start initiatives, joining early intervention programs (ECIP), or providing care in family day homes or private residences as a nanny.
