Continuing Care Assistants (CCAs) serve as vital observers and caregivers for those who are frail or vulnerable. The demand for CCAs continues to grow, with job openings available across diverse healthcare environments. Your responsibilities will include helping clients with mobility, meal support and nutrition, personal hygiene (such as bathing, using the toilet, dressing, and grooming), medication oversight, communication assistance, and palliative care. You'll provide direct support to clients of all ages with varying medical requirements, becoming a valued and trusted member of the healthcare team.
Career Prospects
Graduates of Continuing Care Assistant programs experience excellent job placement rates. Potential workplaces include home healthcare services, nursing homes, private residences, hospitals, integrated care centers, assisted living facilities, or special education classrooms. You'll collaborate with a healthcare team while working under the guidance of registered nurses, psychiatric nurses, or licensed practical nurses.
Grade 12 or successful completion of fifteen (15) post-secondary credits from a recognized institution
International English Language Testing System (IELTS), Academic Module: Overall minimum score of Band 6.5 with a minimum score of 5.0 in each component.
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - An overall minimum score of 81 on the Internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT), with a minimum score of 19 in each of reading, listening, speaking and writing..
TOEFL - Paper-based: Minimum test score of 550 with a minimum TWE of 3.5 and a minimum TSE of 50.
Canadian Test of English for Scholars and Trainees (CanTEST): Minimum score of 4.5 in each of listening and reading, a minimum score of 4.0 in speaking, and a minimum score of 4.0 in writing
Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL CE and Online): Minimum score of 60 with a minimum score of 50 in each component. (CE and Online accepted).
University of Cambridge Assessment English C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency: Minimum grade of C1
Pearson Test of English Academic (PTEA) - A minimum score of 63 with minimum component scores of 50.
Duolingo English Test: A minimum overall score of 105 on the online Duolingo English Test as the equivalent to the minimum overall IELTS score of 6.5
International Baccalaureate (IB) English A1 or A2: Successful completion of the International Baccalaureate Diploma, including higher level English with a minimum grade of 4
