Queen's Master of Laws (LLM) is a 9-12 month program designed to enhance students' legal expertise and research capabilities, preparing them for doctoral studies or careers in research, policy, or legal practice. Applicants must demonstrate strong academic performance in an undergraduate or first law degree (LLB, JD or equivalent). In rare cases, we may admit candidates with non-law degrees in related disciplines. The program offers significant flexibility for students to tailor their studies to align with personal goals. Those drawn to legal theory and philosophy may opt for an LLM with a Political and Legal Thought specialization. All LLM candidates must complete two core graduate seminars - Legal Theory & Perspectives and Legal Research & Writing - along with a faculty-supervised research project.
Students must have high standing in a JD/LLB or equivalent with a minimum B+ average.
