Queen's University boasts what we consider Canada's premier Master's program in Economics. Our curriculum is both rigorous and intellectually stimulating, renowned for its collaborative and welcoming atmosphere. Alumni, current students, and economics professionals worldwide hold our program in the highest regard. Designed to equip students for both applied and theoretical research, the program features a core foundation in economic theory and quantitative methods, complemented by specialized study areas.
A distinctive aspect of our M.A. program is the opportunity for supervised independent research, available through either an M.A. Essay or Master's Thesis. The majority of students opt for the essay, which is typically completed during the summer following coursework. Both options significantly improve career opportunities for M.A. graduates and serve as exceptional preparation for doctoral-level research.
With most students residing nearby and dedicated office space provided for graduate students, our program fosters extensive interaction among M.A. candidates, Ph.D. students, and faculty. In this ideal learning environment, students frequently gain as much knowledge from peer discussions as from formal instruction.
