Queen's University offers joint graduate programs in engineering and applied physics. The research focuses on applying fundamental science and physics principles to enhance quality of life and address pressing challenges affecting communities in Canada and globally. This work covers diverse fields including photonics, quantum computing, medical physics, materials science, device physics, non-destructive testing, and plasma physics. Students collaborate with faculty members who are licensed engineers, many with industry experience and entrepreneurial backgrounds. These interdisciplinary programs provide unique advantages, enabling students to work alongside medical professionals and researchers through the Medical Physics Research Group at the nearby Cancer Centre of Southeastern Ontario. Additional research opportunities are available at Toronto's Sunnybrook Hospital.
Student must have a bachelor degree in Engineering or Applied Science Both must be awarded by a recognized university, with a minimum second-class standing.
English language requirements
Applicants must have TOEFL Internet-based Test (TOEFL iBT): The minimum overall score is 88, made up of the minimum scores in each component test as follows: Writing test: 24/30; Speaking test: 22/30; Reading test: 22/30; Listening test: 20/30; MELAB: 80 (minimum overall score); IELTS: 7 (minimum score, academic module); PTE Academic: 65 (minimum overall score).
