The Materials Group within MME comprises specialists in processing, structural-chemical analysis, mechanical evaluation, and computational modeling of metallic and ceramic materials. Key research focuses include materials for Nuclear applications, Automotive components, Aerospace technologies, and Energy Conversion systems. The PhD program is research-intensive, culminating in a thesis. It equips students with specialized expertise for research careers in academic, governmental, or industrial settings. Minimum post-Master's requirements include four graduate courses, successful completion of comprehensive examinations, and a successfully defended thesis. Candidates must contribute novel insights to their field and are encouraged to publish results in peer-reviewed journals. Typically, the Ph.D. program requires four (4) years to finish.
