The 11-term (five academic years including one summer session) combined B.Mus.B.Ed. program blends scholarly, practical, and career-focused learning. The music bachelor's portion offers an equilibrium of music theory, history, and cultural studies with hands-on training, emphasizing music instruction. The education bachelor's component delivers the professional training and classroom experiences essential for teachers. Students finish the 126-credit B.Mus. curriculum in the initial four years (eight terms), earning required teaching subject qualifications. During years 1-3, they also complete 13.5 credits of education courses. The final year focuses on completing B.Ed. requirements. At Queen's University, the education component spans three consecutive terms: Fall, Winter, and Summer. The music degree structure in this dual program mirrors the standard B.Mus. program, with minor adjustments to the recommended course sequence to incorporate education coursework.
