The Artist in Community Education (ACE) program caters to working artists across visual arts, music, drama, and creative writing disciplines. This program leads to certification by the Ontario College of Teachers. It's available to final-year Concurrent Education students and Consecutive Education teacher candidates. Both Primary-Junior and Intermediate-Senior candidates complete four consecutive terms from May through August of the following year, allowing Queen's graduates to enter the workforce sooner. Intermediate-Senior candidates must choose one teaching specialization from four options: Dramatic Arts, Music, English, or Visual Arts. Participants undertake 20 weeks of placements, including an alternative practicum that can be completed globally in any arts education-related setting. Travel grants are available for international educational experiences, including alternative practicums. The program emphasizes collaborative learning and examines how artists and arts education positively impact schools, communities, and society.
