The Department provides language education from introductory to advanced levels, along with diverse literature courses. These encompass Francophone studies, Québec and Canadian research, historical and cultural studies from medieval times to today, plus offerings in cinema, media studies, and translation.
Our bachelor's program excels through its foundational elements that enable customizable options. Students are advised to complete their third academic year at a French-speaking university, earning 3-4 Queen's credits. Many participants also gain access to intensive summer language programs.
Queen's French Studies Department delivers comprehensive language training and varied literature classes. The curriculum spans Francophone world studies, Québec and Canadian research, historical and cultural examinations from medieval eras to modern times, alongside film/media studies, translation courses, and professional French instruction. Learners can pursue study or work experiences in French-speaking regions like Québec or Europe via exchange programs or work-study opportunities.
