This program equips students to harness the powerful combination of design and innovation as crucial drivers for maintaining business success and competitive advantage. Participants will learn strategic approaches to develop not just innovative solutions, but the most effective engineering answers within given limitations. The curriculum integrates existing knowledge with new skills in design engineering processes, concurrent engineering, computer-aided systems (CAD/CAE/CAM/CIM), material science, machine design, mechanical principles, calculus, thermodynamics, technical communication, and marketing/economics fundamentals - all presented through cutting-edge, real-world design applications.
The Mechanical Engineering master's programs offer comprehensive coverage of core mechanical engineering domains while providing three specialized tracks aligned with future industry needs: Design, Energy and Thermofluids Engineering, and Mechatronics and Manufacturing Engineering.
Students may alternatively pursue a broader mechanical engineering curriculum spanning diverse topics like robotics, automation, mechatronics, control systems, computer-aided design, thermofluids, and heat transfer. The field frequently intersects with electrical, computer, and software engineering, offering graduate students opportunities to explore these interdisciplinary connections.
The research-focused MASc program prepares graduates for careers in R&D, advanced engineering, or academia, while the MEng program focuses on technical skill enhancement through coursework, potentially including a significant project component.
