The Sustainable Building Technology program features an intensive two or three-year curriculum designed to equip students with essential knowledge and skills to lead, motivate, and empower future building technology professionals. This comprehensive program explores fundamental theories, methodologies, and implementation strategies from initial design to final construction, employing holistic systems thinking and cross-disciplinary methods. These approaches collectively prepare students to create sustainable built environments that improve quality of life. The curriculum is structured around five specialized tracks developed by faculty in collaboration with industry experts, focusing on Sustainability, Building Design, Building Science and Systems, Construction Management, and Service Courses. This framework enables focused education in sustainable construction practices, equipping graduates for careers in building (re)design, project management, and construction implementation. Key program outcomes include: Demonstrating core knowledge of construction principles, standards, and regulations for both new and existing buildings, Evaluating the sustainability impact of construction projects through metrics like carbon footprint, energy efficiency, and user experience, Facilitating productive collaboration among clients, contractors, professionals, and officials using Integrated Project Delivery methods, Explaining foundational theories in building science, Working effectively both independently and collaboratively in diverse project teams, Implementing systems thinking in design and construction to maximize project outcomes, and Successfully translating design concepts into built form through practical construction knowledge.

Hands-on learning is integrated across the program via field trips, real-world project analyses, practical building exercises, and culminating capstone projects. These experiential components strengthen the connection between classroom learning and professional requirements. Between their first and second years, students may enhance their practical training through optional paid cooperative education placements during summer breaks.
