The Commercial Aviation Diploma (CAD) program is designed for those seeking a career in commercial aviation. This program equips students with university-level business skills while meeting Transport Canada's commercial aviation licensing standards. Upon completion, graduates can work as pilots for charter services, regional airlines, and private firms. With accumulated flight hours, they may qualify for positions at major airlines or explore other aviation-related fields. The CAD program combines two key components: aviation/flight training and academic coursework. Flight training occurs at the Southern Interior Flight Centre near Kelowna International Airport, covering Transport Canada-mandated flight instruction, simulator sessions, aviation theory, and examinations. Academic studies take place at Okanagan College, involving eight 3-credit courses. This two-year program, delivered in collaboration with Southern Interior Flight Centre (SIFC), blends essential flight training with business administration courses tailored to aviation. Graduates leave with both commercial pilot credentials and the business acumen to succeed in all aspects of the aviation industry.
