The Commercial Helicopter Pilot Certificate (CHPC) enhances the Commercial Aviation program by enabling students in both airplane and helicopter tracks to take shared ground school classes. This prepares students to handle the distinct challenges of flying helicopters in Canada and abroad. The certificate adheres to Transport Canada's approved curriculum and overlaps with courses from the Commercial Aviation Diploma, covering essential and advanced commercial helicopter piloting techniques. Upon completion, students will be qualified to attempt Transport Canada's Commercial Helicopter Pilot written and flight examinations. Okanagan College integrates business development training with aviation studies to help students cultivate professionalism and strong work ethics for their future careers. Combining helicopter pilot training with the School of Business gives graduates a competitive edge over standard pilot qualifications. This 40-credit program spans two semesters over one year. Successful graduates who pass Transport Canada's exams and log at least 100 flight hours will be prepared for careers as commercial helicopter pilots. Delivered in collaboration with Okanagan Mountain Helicopters, this one-year program follows Transport Canada's regulations and includes Business Administration courses tailored to the helicopter industry.
